Safeguarding and Child Protection
All staff, visitors and volunteers have a responsibility to take prompt action if they are concerned about the safety or welfare of any child. Concerns of a non-urgent or low level nature must still be reported without delay as they may be part of a bigger picture of concern. Any concern about, or raised by, a child must be taken seriously.
If a visitor or volunteer has any concerns about the safety or welfare of a child they should report it to one of the school’s Designated Safeguarding Officers (see PDF below).

Beech Hill Primary Schools participates in the Operation Encompass initiative which runs jointly with Bedfordshire Police and Luton Children’s Services.
Operation Encompass has been designed to provide early reporting to schools of any domestic abuse incidents that occur in which a child was present and ordinarily resides at the incident location or with an involved party. We know that children can be significantly affected through witnessing or being exposed to domestic abuse and this operation will allow us to better support our pupils and their families. The operation also alerts the school to any of our pupils people who are reported missing so that professionals can work collaboratively to locate vulnerable young people.
Miss Carson is the nominated member of staff, known as the Operation Encompass Single Point of Contact (SPoC), who directly receives information from Bedfordshire Police. She will be able to use information that has been shared with her, in confidence, to ensure that the right support is available should it be required by a child.
We are keen to offer the best support available to our pupils and the service is proving to be extremely beneficial for all those involved.
If you have any concerns or questions then please contact Miss Carson, Deputy Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead by emailing safeguarding@beechhillprimary.com.
