Our Mathematical Journey
At Beech Hill Primary School, we offer a bespoke mathematical learning experience tailor-made for our pupils. We take pride in making sure that our staff are well-trained so they can deliver this program successfully. Pupils are challenged to reach their full potential though practical application of knowledge and stimulating visual resources and learning in a vocabulary rich environment. Our learners engage in exciting lessons that build upon past experiences while providing deep, rich and meaningful learning to allow them to make links to a range of mathematical terms and topics.
At Beech Hill Primary School, we pride ourselves on creating a stimulating learning journey for our pupils. Our learners have the opportunity to learn though a relative approach that links pervious learning experiences to new knowledge. We call this the maths learning journey.
Each mathematics lesson provides depth and challenge through word problems, mathematical puzzles, discussion and investigations to encourage deeper thinking. Within each mathematical lesson, a variety of different teaching approaches and resources are used to meet each children’s needs. Children at Beech Hill are provided with multiple ways to engage and succeed in their mathematical learning, through differentiated tasks, the use of manipulatives (physical resources), interactive games/programs, outdoor learning and digitally created images.
