Travelling to School and Road Safety
As part of our Healthy Schools programme and Travel Plan we encourage all pupils and staff to consider their means of travel to school. This will include walking, car sharing and the use of public transport. During the month of May the school participates in the national ‘Walk to School Week’. Year 2 recently enjoyed Scooter and Road Safety Training provided by Luton Borough Council.
Parents and Carers please can you be considerate of others when bringing your child to school by car and park where you will not be causing a problem to pedestrians, residents or other drivers. We are receiving increasing numbers of complaints regarding near misses of incidents especially in Hampton Road including cars driving up and parking on the pavements and blocking driveways. The safety of our children is a key priority for us all.
Modeshift Stars Travel Award
We are really pleased to have been awarded the Modeshift Silver Star Award. We were the first school in Luton to achieve this prestigious award.
Modeshift STARS is a national schools awards scheme that has been established to recognise schools that have demonstrated excellence in supporting cycling, walking and other forms of sustainable travel. The scheme encourages schools across the country to join in a major effort to increase levels of sustainable and active travel in order to improve the health and well-being of children and young people.
